Welcome to Coastwise
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Contact us to get started.
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is ideal for someone who has experienced some sobriety and can start moving towards a transition to the real world while still benefiting from our addiction treatment program at Coastwise Recovery Center several times a week. Our goal with IOP is to ensure each person has enough time with us to get back on their feet. This gives each person enough time to build healthy routines, learn hobbies, and start working or caring for their families again.
Often, IOP is the next step after completing PHP or inpatient treatment and is designed for people who do not require a higher level of care but still require intensive support as they approach the next critical transition.
Transitions can be difficult in early sobriety and moving back to familiar environments can be extremely triggering and emotional. It is critical to have a strong network of support during this time and it can make all the difference in sustaining one’s commitment to a sober healthier life.
The Benefits of Coastwise Recovery Center’s IOP Program
Comprehensive Treatment:
You will experience treatment that is offered at both inpatient and outpatient treatment.
Assessments & Treatment Planning:
We do intense evaluations and treatment planning to ensure that treatment is clinically
appropriate for each person, and to ensure that our treatment is showing progress toward a
common goal.
Medical Evaluation & Weekly Follow up:
Upon admission, you will meet with our psychiatrist for a thorough evaluation. You will continue
to meet with the same doctor weekly throughout your time in IOP.
Licensed Clinicians:
With two individual therapy sessions weekly with two Licensed Therapists, you will have access to highly skilled and experienced therapists and addiction counselors close to home. Each therapist has their own unique approach and skill set.
Your therapists specialize in treating addiction and co-occurring disorders, as well as being trained in working with trauma, PTSD, and family issues.
Building Community:
You will be encouraged to begin to attend recovery meetings in your community to begin building long-lasting support close to home.
Family Involvement:
Addiction is a family disease. It impacts even the healthiest families and can rupture the entire family system. At Coastwise, we treat the entire family through weekly family sessions when appropriate. We will begin by working with you to understand your family system. With some time, your family can begin to join in therapy sessions to promote mutual healing and healthy
dynamics.
Mental Health Issues:
Often, addiction and mental health go hand in hand. Mental illness can be addressed and identified in early sobriety after the “clear out” phase is over, but the treatment evolves through your time with us. In IOP, you will learn resourcing and grounding techniques. All mental
Health illnesses are treated differently—some with therapy only, some with medication, and some with both. We hope to identify and treat you for any mental health issues that may impact your sobriety and overall well-being.
Developing Life changing Coping Skills:
You will be introduced to therapies that help build skills crucial to long-term sobriety. This is done in a group setting and one on one.
Comprehensive Case Management:
At Coastwise, we offer comprehensive case management services to ensure that every aspect of an individual’s treatment journey is coordinated effectively. Clinicians work closely with individuals to manage their overall well-being, connecting them with resources, addressing any barriers to their recovery, and begin to create healthy habits that continue after their treatment
with us.

12 Steps Principles
We are treating addiction and substance use at Coastwise, but we understand that addiction is often a symptom of unresolved trauma, PTSD, grief or other co-occurring issues. At Coastwise we focus on treating the addiction as well as the underlying wounds that may have contributed to it. We have created a healing place to work on yourself while overcoming the negative impact of traumatic experiences from your past, safely and openly.
We aim to begin the healing progress the
following when clinically appropriate.
