A Breakthrough Therapy

At Coastwise Therapy, we use Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy to break through barriers and transform your everyday life. Our individually curated Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapeutic experience includes customized preparation and integration phases at our comfortable offices.

Our psychotherapists partner with a physician who offers medical monitoring and supervision throughout the therapy process. We regularly consult with your primary medical doctor and mental health care provider and, when appropriate, provide referrals for other beneficial therapy options.

Our team of psychotherapists and doctors at Coastwise Therapy is committed to the ethical and compassionate clinical use of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). We combine alternative and traditional methods of psychotherapy to bring you maximum benefit in your healing journey.

Coastwise collaborates with therapists and doctors to help patients facing therapy challenges. If you're a referring clinician or doctor, you might be wondering which clients in your practice would benefit from this therapy. The answer: those who are therapeutically stuck, dealing with therapy-resistant depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, or other issues that traditional methods haven't addressed. Throughout your client's KAP therapy, you'll engage with Coastwise KAP Therapists to enhance their therapeutic progress. Your clients will maintain their regular appointments with you during KAP therapy. We return your patients to you 100% of the time - Coastwise is here to empower you and improve your practice as a partner, not a competitor.

    Frequently Asked Questions about KAP

    1. How is Ketamine Administered?

Ketamine is utilized in two ways: low-to-moderate dose ketamine lozenges or low to higher dose intramuscular injections. We focus on tailoring the most effective interventions and dosages to each individual's specific needs.

    2. What Can You Expect from Ketamine?

Ketamine offers various effects based on dosage levels:
    • A mild anesthetic effect and a dreamlike, dissociative state.
    • Antidepressant and anti-suicidal ideation effects.
    • Anxiolytic effects.
Psychedelic effects. Lower dosages induce a psycholytic trance state to lower psychological defenses, supporting deeper psychotherapeutic investigations. Higher dosages provide a therapeutic and transformative psychedelic experience.

    3. How Do I Begin?

Start with an individual intake session with a KAP trained Psychotherapist and Medical Doctor at the Center, including a full assessment by a Psychotherapist and a medical evaluation for risk factors. If you're a good candidate, subsequent sessions will include rapport-building, psychoeducation on the Ketamine process, and setting therapy goals. KAP sessions typically last 3 hours, with at least 4-6 treatments recommended for therapeutic benefit. If KAP isn't suitable for you, alternative therapy options will be discussed or a referral made.

    4. What are the instructions for the Day of KAP Session?

Refrain from food for 4 hours and liquids for 1 hour before your session. Arrange for transportation with a friend, Uber, or Lyft due to temporary impairment of motor skills after the session.

    5. What is the cancellation Policy?

A 48-hour notice is required for cancellations, or the full fee will be enforced, given the 3-hour session length.

    6. Mandatory Components for KAP Participation:

All patients must undergo a full Medical Evaluation, Psychological Assessment, and Treatment Planning session with the treating Doctor and Psychotherapist. You need a minimum of 2 supervised ketamine sessions before gradually increasing the dosage. Collaboration with your therapist from another clinic is encouraged.

    7. What's the Ketamine Experience Like?

Each session is unique and cannot be pre-programmed. Ketamine journeys vary in intensity and content, offering experiences that may be both enjoyable and awe-inspiring. The process can lead to a new sense of self and fresh perspectives.

    8. What Does Ketamine Treat?

Ketamine is effective for treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, PTSD, end-of-life issues, addiction, eating disorders, and spiritual growth. 9. Withdrawal from KAP: You can choose to withdraw from therapy at any time after consulting with us, given the intensity of the process.
