Sheila Monsod, CADC II

Sheila Monsod is an accomplished professional with a deep commitment to helping individuals on their journey to recovery. With over two decades of experience in the field, she has made a significant impact in both non-profit and for-profit sectors.

Since 2020, Sheila has been contracting with outpatient substance use disorder and mental health facilities, where she serves as a dedicated group facilitator. Her qualifications include a CCAPP - CADC II certification, DOT - SAP credentials, and a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Pepperdine University.

Sheila's journey in the field of recovery began in 2002, and she transitioned into professional treatment in 2006. She initiated her career as a certified counselor at Phoenix House Venice, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting parolees, probationers, and federal pre-trial clients on their path to rehabilitation.

Recognized for her outstanding contributions, Sheila quickly rose to the position of Facility Project Administrator. In this role, she not only facilitated all compliance requirements but also managed day-to-day operations, funding sources, and certification board mandates. Her leadership extended to staffing, ensuring the facility had the right mix of employees, counselor and therapist interns, and volunteers. After a successful tenure in administration, Sheila chose to return to direct clinical work as a Senior Counselor in outpatient programs and services. Here, she adeptly managed up to 23 clients, honing her skills in time management and client care.

Driven by her passion for empowering individuals in recovery, Sheila transitioned to the for-profit sector, serving as a Human Resource Manager for substance use and treatment programs. In this role, she meticulously staffed four residential programs, overseeing the recruitment of counselors, therapist interns, and LVNs. Sheila's exemplary work in this capacity spanned five years.

A pivotal moment in Sheila's career was her decision to pursue a graduate degree. This choice led her to the Union Rescue Mission in downtown Skid Row, where she embarked on a journey from a part-time clerk to Volunteers Department Manager. Shortly after completing her Master's degree at Pepperdine University, she assumed the role of a Philanthropy Officer, managing a portfolio of over 500 dedicated donors committed to helping the unhoused population.

Sheila's dedication to her children ultimately led her to seek a unique opportunity to provide counseling and group facilitation. Today, she has come full circle in her journey, combining her wealth of experience, education, and compassion to make a positive impact on individuals seeking recovery.
